Did soldiers really like these, I wonder? December 7, 2017

Great bit of history, if a bit awkward.

I imagine ammo was issued to soldiers in these pouches and when the pouch was empty they'd get another full one.

They're very light (good), but the material is so light I often have to use one hand to steady the belt as I pull a clip out, especially those stored with the bullet facing down. Or a lot of wiggling and shimmying. The metal clip catches in the pouch corners.

I'm picturing a lot of these pouches just torn up in the heat of battle. A stiffer pouch, though heavier, would be easier to work, it seems to me. But you use what you got - and hope Gerry's got problems of his own.

Still, they make a great way to prep and carry your rounds for a session at the range, then stage your clips out of the belt if you're working a timed string. And, of course, essential if you want to kit out like a genuine Tommy. Ten clips and a belt and you're ready to go.
